🐾 Rock City Gardens, Lookout Mountain, Georgia

Read time: 5 minutes

Our very first stop with Luna on our honeymoon road trip was in Georgia. We made a stop with family and friends and drove up to Lookout Mountain to see Rock City Gardens. This was our very first stop with Luna so to say we were a little nervous was an understatement. Luna had an incredible time running around the trails and we enjoyed the views from 1700ft feet in the air. This park is extremely pet-friendly and we know you will enjoy every second with your family. There are lots of steps and bridges to cross so come prepared with great walking shoes and lots of water (they do have a shop that sells foods and snacks).

The trail is 0.5 miles and is a loop. There were various flowers and gnome themed scenes throughout the entire trail. We really loved the dog house and of course the Goblins Underpass. We also enjoyed seeing the Fairyland Caverns (yes, exactly as it sounds) and LOVED seeing their whimsical interpretations of nursery book rhymes! You cannot walk through the fairytale characters without saying a line or two from your favorite books!

The views from the top of Lookout Mountain were phenomenal. From the top it is said to be able to see “Seven States'“ along with each states flag displayed in the Seven States Flag Court. The waterfall is 100ft and you can see it from various angles. We also enjoyed walking across their Swing-a-Long Bridge (Luna’s least favorite part!). The views are phenomenal no matter where you are standing. Seeing the faces of amazement from others around you make the hike to the top worth it!

During our time at Rock City Gardens we were also able to see beautiful Lovers Leap. The legend states that a Chickasaw warrior named Sautee and a Cherokee maiden named Nacoochee fell in love while their tribes were at war. Once he was caught, the man was thrown off the top of Lookout Mountain. Then as the tribe was celebrating what they had the done, Nacoochee also left the mountain while stating his name. Sacrificing her own life to be with her soulmate.
