Our Wedding: At Home!

After our wedding was canceled (scheduled for November 2020, due to COVID!), we debated on rescheduling for sometime in 2021. We went back and forth and back and forth again and Javi randomly said one day, what if instead we go on an extended road trip. This random comment was what kick started our crazy honeymoon road trip planning.

However, it was still very important to have a celebration of our union with our family and friends. So we went back to the drawing board! We then debated do we have something big and include our closest family and friends but we kept coming back to it being a pretty large crowd and we wanted to make sure we kept everyone safe! After some more conversations, we decided we would rent an Airbnb and have a small dinner there. We would get all dressed up, have food catered, get some dancing in and call it a day! We decided to invite the most immediate family and had our best friend marry us.

After searching and searching for the perfect place that could host 17 people, we found one that was perfect and would even allow Luna to be a part of our big day. Then 2 months before the micro wedding was to take place, the very nice man informed us that he would have to cancel the reservation even though we had a small party size and only 2 people were actually staying because people were unfortunately not following the rules. And back to the drawing board we went (AGAIN!) to try to figure out what we could do to make it work. We ultimately ended up deciding what better way to celebrate our special day than at our own home and making the absolute best of it!

The night before, I stayed at the Hyatt House in Downtown Tampa (where of course we continued to accumulate our points for our honeymoon with our World of Hyatt Credit Card). The morning of, the amazingly talented Tatyana did my hair followed my amazingly talented friend Nury with the makeup. These girls made me feel like a beautiful princess for my special day!

We decided to do our first look and vows privately and we are so thankful to the staff at the Hyatt for providing us with the space to do so. After we spilled our hearts out to each other, we ran around downtown Tampa with the amazing Edwin Colon to capture beautiful pictures. This was one of best parts of the day as we had so many random strangers yell and cheer for us from their cars, from registers, and walking by us! Then Javi drove us home in our truck. I snuck some snacks in the truck while everyone finished the final details inside (thanks Steph!) because your girl was getting hangry!

Non-traditionally like everything else we’ve done, we walked in together, hand in hand with Luna after the cutest ring bearer and our brother and sister to Canon in the D. I think you can tell from our faces that we were very very happy. Once at our alter, our best friend did his thing and we promised to take care of each other, love each other, and devote our lives to each other (every hour besides by Bachelor nights 🌹) and BAM we were finally MARRIED!!!!

The rest of the night consisted of delicious food, peanut butter shots (thank you Michael), dancing, laughs, great speeches (and some double speeches, Michael again) and above everything lots and lots of love surrounded by our favorite humans. It goes without saying that a day a couple says “I do” to each other is one of the happiest days of your lives. It is also important to mention that this special day should check off the boxes that are most important to the couple. On this day, we had it all. I had the sparkly dress, the man of my dreams, our family members and our family and friends cheering us on from all parts of the world. It was perfect and if I had to go through the stress of cancelations and headaches to get to have it at home again, I absolutely would!

In the words of Tampa Bay Lightning, Nikita Kucherov: This is #1 Bullshit! (Yes we drank champagne in the backyard!)
